2007 Project - Valley of the Moon Teen Center

The ECA Board of Directors unanimously voted to commit to the 2007 Community Relations Project for the construction of the Valley of the Moon Teen Center in Boyes Hot Springs. For several years the teen center has rented an old building to operate its programs. This center serves 30-40 teens daily, most of whom live within two miles of the center. They provide bike mechanics, nutritional meal preparation, supervised boxing and field trips. The teens live in an area where there is a high percentage of economically disadvantaged families and many in the area have inadequate or unreliable transportation to take the teens for activities outside their neighborhood. A new teen center will ensure the continuation of the programs and additional programs could be offered which would attract more teens to become involved. An up-to-date facility will be a statement that the teens are valued in the community.
